LEAVING PARADISE⁣ 🦜⁣ Chaa Creek has turned me into a bird person, and I’m ok with that! ⁣ ⁣ 💔 We will miss the gorgeous grounds, warm pool overlooking the jungle, incredible service…⁣ ⁣ 💎 Many have wondered if we were hosted by the resort. We were not. We paid for everything we showed you, but wanted to share because, if you’re coming to Belize, we want you to have the Lodge top of your list! ⁣ ⁣ 👨🏽‍🍳 We spent some time chatting with the owners and telling them how caring their staff is, and that it is a true reflection of how the owner family must be treated them!⁣ ⁣ 😷 They mentioned that they did not let go of staff during the pandemic. They took out a huge loan to match the government’s payments to their staff, and ensured everyone had a job to come back to. ⁣ ⁣ ♥️ You can just tell the amount of love and respect each employee has for the resort, and it made our experience even more wonderful. It’s not just the gorgeous grounds and nature, the butterflies and toucans, the burgers and cocktails. It’s the people! BUTTERFLY GALORE⁣ 🦋⁣ We are back at @chaacreek for a couple of nights and started our day at the butterfly farm! ⁣ ⁣ Elin walked in and said that her biggest wish was to have a butterfly land on her nose, and she did!! ⁣ ⁣ We think she might have had some mango juice on her face, because it hung out on her face for a while! ⁣ ⁣ Chaa Creek is a pretty magical place! ⁣ ⁣ 🦋 We also got to release our very own Blue Morpho. It’s chrysalis was waiting for us when we got our room, and today it emerged, dried its wings, and took flight for us! ⁣ ⁣ We had such a wonderful, chill day, at the resort. The kids were invited to a play date, so Christian and I enjoyed some kid-free pool time, and ended the day with the most fabulous burger ever, right by the pool!

CHILL DAY⁣ ☀️⁣ We were so bummed this morning, waking up in sunshine, and realizing it would have been a perfect day for that boat excursion to Silk Caye 😩⁣ ⁣ 🌈 But after all that rain, we enjoyed dry and sunny weather on and around the water! ⁣ ⁣ 🌊 @theplacenciaresort lets you borrow SUPs and kayaks and we used the opportunity to see the resort from the sea, meet some pelicans, and the even jumped in the water! ⁣ ⁣ 👙 After that, it was farniente by the pool! The kids swam and made friends. We only dragged them out of the water for lunch, and they jumped right back. ⁣ ⁣ 🧖🏽‍♀️ We decided to take it easy and rest & relax! ⁣ ⁣ 💕 Beautiful Belizean day today in a fabulous resort! ⁣ ⁣ {𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘥} 𝘣𝘺 @theplacenciaresort

PLACENCIA, BELIZE⁣ 🇧🇿⁣ The little town of Placencia is less than 30 minutes south of @theplacenciaresort ! ⁣ ⁣ From there, you can reach Silk Caye or Laughing Bird Caye. Caye is pronounced [key], and they are small islands 30 to 60 minutes from the coast. ⁣ ⁣ Excursions are typically whole-day outings (9A-3P) and include the boat ride, lunch, snorkeling equipment, and park entrances. They cost around $100 per person. ⁣ ⁣ Silk Caye was our top choice, as you can swim with sea turtles and sharks! ⁣ ⁣ We had to cancel our plans due to weather… and that makes us want to come back down to Belize at some point!

THE PLACENCIA RESORT⁣ ☀️⁣ It’s been a beautiful first day at @theplacenciaresort !⁣ ⁣ 🚗 We were going to spend a few days in the jungle near Hopkins, but made a last-minute change and drove down the two hours to Placencia! ⁣ ⁣ 🌴 Technically, we’re still about 30 minutes away from Placencia, but the feel of this peninsula is so different than Hopkins! ⁣ ⁣ 🏖 We are excited to discover a new Belizean beach and hope the weather will hold up! The sun showed up for a couple of hours today and we just hung by the pool, the boys went kayaking, and we ate the finest dinner we’ve had in a long long time!!⁣ ⁣ 👙 Can’t wait to explore more of Placencia tomorrow, and enjoy a few chill days by the pool / beach! This week is National Fishing and Boating Week, and fishing is FREE in many states!! ⁣ ⁣⁣ I always thought fishing would be boring, but it turned out to be:⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ♥️ Amazing distraction-free family time⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🧘🏽‍♀️ Calming and centering⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🌳 Healthy outdoor time⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 👧🏽 A fun activity to learn together⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Trying new things as a family will forever be a good idea, and you may surprise yourself loving it. ⁣ SPA @ HOPKINS BAY⁣⁣ 🧖🏽‍♀️⁣⁣ The spa at Hopkins Bay is a little haven of peace and relaxation. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Ava and I received a treatment there and left feeling at peace and perfectly relaxed!⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 💆🏽‍♀️ I did the 45-minute collagen facial, which included a lower leg and foot massage, while Ava got a 30-minute back massage. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 👧🏽 Spa treatments are usually reserved for kids 13+. Talk to the spa when you get to the resort to see if they’ll allow a younger child to receive a massage. The treatment was customized for a child and Ava loved it!⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🌊 It is 100% relaxation, with spa music on a background of crashing waves. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 👩‍❤️‍👨 If you get a couples massage, I believe it will be done on the pier over the water! How cool is that?⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I am so happy that Ava and I took some time to get pampered. I loved the 1-on-1 time we had together and it makes me realize just how quickly they are all growing. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 💕 We need to be more conscious of it and start doing things like this at home. JUNGLE HORSE RIDING⁣ 🐎⁣ The kids love horse riding so so much! It’d been a year since our last trail at Theodore Roosevelt NP, since we couldn’t make it work during our California or Kentucky visit. ⁣ ⁣ 🤠 When @muyonoresorts asked if we wanted to go on a horse riding jungle adventure with river swimming, we were beaming!! ⁣ ⁣ The whole excursion lasted about 5 hours, with 3.5 hours on the horses and in the water! ⁣ ⁣ 🐴 The horses were amazing for all ages! Elin (7) was on her own horse and every animal was super docile!⁣ ⁣ 🥥 The guides stole the show. They were incredible from beginning to end. They pretty much gave Elin a private riding lesson, taught the kids to skip rocks, then opened coconuts for everyone to drink and eat from!! ⁣ ⁣ 🦟 Please wear long pants / long sleeves and cover every inch of exposed skin with bug spray. I forgot a few inches on my ankles and got bitten by the Black Flies (Botlass Flies) - I will leave it at that, it’s not pretty! Protect yourselves! ⁣ ⁣ 👙 Pack a swimsuit! HOPKINS BAY RESORT⁣ ☀️⁣ We are spending the next 4 nights of our Belize adventure at Hopkins Bay Resort, in Hopkins, Belize! ⁣ ⁣ Located in southern Belize, right on the water, we love all the beach and pool vibes! ⁣ ⁣ Hopkins is a super cute and laid-back beach town. Think beach bars, homemade ice cream places, palm trees and the Caribbean Sea! ⁣ ⁣ It’s about a 2.5-hr drive from the airport - soon to be a lot quicker once the direct highway is paved! ⁣ ⁣ We’re loving:⁣ ⁣ 🏠 The large accommodations! The 3-bedroom villas can be booked on their own, or split in 2 or 1-bedrooms, or even a hotel room. ⁣ ⁣ 🌴 The beautiful grounds! House are spread apart and it feels like a little beach-front community in a gorgeous garden! ⁣ ⁣ 👙 Two ocean-facing pools!!⁣ ⁣ 🍤 Belizean food at the Rhum Shack and super kind, kid-loving, staff. ⁣ ⁣ We’re looking forward to unwinding and adventuring in the next few days!
