Last night, thanks to Disney, we got to experience one of our favorite ticketed event at Magic Kingdom – the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. Is it just me or does Halloween top the Holidays, but then the Holidays top Halloween? I can’t ever seem to pick a favorite and I just love both seasons during their dedicated time of the year!
The Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party has been one of our family’s favorite traditions, and today, I am sharing all of the fun and magic to be had on select nights at Magic Kingdom.
Here are 10 tips to have a magic and not-so-spooky time at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party:
1- Purchase Your Tickets In Advance
This is a ticketed event, which means that you will need a separate ticket to enter the party.
Head over HERE to check night availability and purchase your tickets.
The Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween parties run several nights a week from late August through Early November. You will typically get a discount (~$10) for purchasing your ticket online and at least 24 hours prior to the event!
While the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party starts at 7PM, you can enter the park with your event ticket starting at 4PM and start enjoying the attractions. The trick-or-treating won’t start until 7PM and this is when only guests with the event wristband will be allowed to be in the park!
2- Wear Your Best Costumes
No matter the night you pick, it is HALLOWEEN!!! So wear your best costumes, adults included!!!
While there are some guidelines, adults are allowed to be dressed up and I just love seeing matching families and groups of friends!
3- Grab A Park Map!
Magic Kingdom is soooo magical during the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party! As you enter the park, grab a park map to make sure you know where the trick-or-treat stations, magical photo opps, dance parties, and special character appearances are!
There are also several very special (aka. can’t-be-missed) entertainment offerings. The park map will include all of the details and times!
4- Start Right Behind Meet Mickey
As you enter the park, make a right after the Town Square Theater where you will be taken backstage (an area typically closed to the public) and handed your treat bags and a first bunch of candies!!
Keep walking and you will arrive at the Partners statue (Walt and Mickey Mouse in front of the castle) and will have avoided a busy Main Street full of guests leaving for the day!
5- See A Cast Member For Allergies
If you or someone in your party has a food allergy, make sure to see a Cast Member to receive a teal-colored treat bag.
Instead of candy, collect tokens at trick-or-treat stations, redeemable for safe treats at one of the allergy-friendly centers!
6- Bring An Empty Backpack And Stroller Hooks
As you start trick-or-treating and filling up your treat bag, you will want to empty all of the candies in a backpack. The amount of candy you will gather during the night is mind-blowing and those treat bags can become heavy for little kids to carry.
We love bringing stroller hooks to the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party to hang the treat bags to strollers or backpacks. Always happy for free hands!!
7- Take Pictures With Rare Characters
When do you get to take a picture with all 7 dwarfs?! Hint: they hide inside the Storybook Circus tent! I love the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party as some rarer characters are out for photos!
And the more regular characters are dressed up in their Halloween and Fall costumes! The lines are also much shorter than during the day!
8- Dance The Night Away
There are two dance parties and both are just so cute!
We always start our evenings at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café (to the right of the castle) for a proper Dance party, straight out of the Descendants! It reminds me so much of the dance parties on board the Disney Cruise Ships!
The second dance party is tucked away in Storybook Circus and kids get to dance with some of their favorite Disney Junior characters!
9- It’s A Halloween Parade!
You can’t miss the parade! It is so popular that it comes through twice a night! We watched the 9.15PM one, but a second, less-busy one, comes through at 11.15PM.
It is a nice mixture of Disney Classics and spookier floats and characters!
10- You Will Be Blown Away By This One…
I promise you, you will be blown away by the fireworks!! Shooting at 10.15PM, which is a great time for the kids to still be awake, the Disney Not So Spooky Spectacular is the most incredible nighttime spectacular at Walt Disney World!
Watch the castle transform with illuminations you won’t believe you’re actually seeing, while fireworks shoot to spooky tunes! If you haven’t yet, watch the video at the top for a small glimpse of what awaits you!
It was, by far, our family’s favorite part of the night! You won’t want to miss it. If the kids are getting tired, I would highly recommend sitting on a bench and letting them rest / sleep while you wait for the fireworks. You CANNOT miss this show!!
