We recently spent three nights at The Placencia Resort, near the charming village of Placencia in southern Belize, and would book this resort in a heartbeat again. If you are looking for a family-friendly Belize all inclusive resort on the beach, this is your resort!
Finding a quality all inclusive resort in Belize that is family-friendly and offers amenities for kids, is not always easy. There are many adult-only all inclusive hotels, but The Placencia Resort offers everything a family needs for a quality beach vacation.
1 – All-Inclusive Option
The Placencia Resort (a Muy’Ono resort) does not have to be booked as a Belize all inclusive resort. You have the ability to book rooms only and order à la carte. In order to include your meals to your stay, choose the Meal Plan option at the time of booking.
The Meal Plan includes:
– Breakfast: a course order from the menu + 1 drink (coffee or freshly-pressed juice)
– Lunch: a main dish from the menu + 1 drink (juice or soda)
– Dinner: a 3-course meal + 1 drink (juice or soda)
Alcohol and tips are not included in the all-inclusive stay, however, taxes are. You get to pick from the daily menu, including all special dishes cooked that day, and are served table-side!
2 – Incredible Food
Let’s talk about the food! We love eating, and when we book an all inclusive resort, we hope for really good food. And The Placencia Resort more than delivered! I can’t even start to tell you how incredible the food is at the resort!
The juices are freshly pressed and include local fruit options such as watermelon or papaya. I recommend trying at least one – it is an explosion of flavor and gets you all the fruit vitamins for the day!
All Muy’Ono resort restaurants (including The Placencia Resort) source their produce from the organic Muy’Ono farm, making the farm-to-table experience a delicious and seasonal one, in partnership with the chefs and farm. Over 400 varieties of foods are grown on the farm.
While all menus (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) are really good, The Placencia Resort shines at night! For dinner, I happily call the food gourmet. The flavors are incredible. You can tell that the ingredients are top notch, growing in a rich soil, and more flavorful than anything you’ll ever cook at home. The menu is incredible and the execution is an art! The price of the meal plan ($75 USD / adult) is worth just the dinner experience, if you ask me (and the French in me, is very hard to please with food)!
3 – The Placencia Resort Setting
The Placencia Resort has that feel-good feeling to it! The grounds are beautifully manicured, with an explosion of tropical plants and colors. It feel uniquely Belizean all around.
Throughout the day, choose to eat pool-side or at the pool bar, in the air-conditioned ocean-front restaurant, or in an open-air over-the-water restaurant.
We loved having breakfast on the restaurant’s terrace, a laid-back lunch by the pool (the nachos are amazing!), and an incredible dinner over the water.
The Placencia Resort’s staff truly cares about the resort and it shows. The beach is raked every day, the pool is very clean, the room service is perfect. The overall resort is very well taken care of and we have loved enjoying a couple of days pool side!
4- The Pool
Did you know that The Placencia Resort features one of the largest pools in Belize? It is such a beautiful and warm pool, and it entertained our kids for hours each day. I am not one to usually get in the pool, but this one was too appealing.
It has a whole area where the water is only low-calf high: perfect for young babies and kids, or the adult looking for really warm water.
One side of the pool is shallower, and the other deeper, with a swim-up bar, serving food from the menu and excellent cocktails.
Let’s not forget to mention the swings! 😉
5 – The Beach
The beach is very clean and raked daily. The rows of palm trees give it a very tropical and inviting feel. While the snorkeling isn’t great right by the beach, the water is warm and the resort provides umbrellas and beach chairs for a relaxing afternoon watching the kids build sand castles.
6 – Water Sports
While snorkeling is not a big thing in Placencia, The Placencia Resort provides kayaks and paddle boards, as well as life jackets, to take out on the water free of charge.
Definitely take advantage of them and go explore more of the coast. Seeing the resort from the water is also quite a treat.
7 – Modern Comfort
The comfort of The Placencia’s accommodations are a real treat for families. You can choose to rent a hotel room with king or double-queen accommodations, a one-bedroom apartment with full kitchen, all the way to a three-bedroom apartment with full kitchen.
The units comes with WiFi, connected TVs, A/C, drinkable water stations, rain showers, and daily housekeeping.
If you need to be connected for remote work during your stay at The Placencia, the connection was fast enough for my husband and I to take WiFi calls, video conference, upload data, and work without interruption.
7 – Placencia And Beyond
The Placencia Resort is about 25 minutes from the seaside village of Placencia. If you have a car, it is an easy drive down to the little town. If not, sign up for a ride on the resort’s free shuttle or book a taxi for ~$25 USD / $50 BZD.
Placencia is a great location to start many Belizean adventures, on your own, or with the help of Muy’Ono Adventures. You can book your excursions through the resort and visit nearby cayes, go cave tubing, visit Maya temples, go on jungle or water tours.
If you are traveling with kids, ask for family-friendly tours, designed for guests of all ages!
If you are interested in a tour not offered by the resort, the staff will be happy to make provider recommendations to help you plan your perfect Belizean adventure.
8 – PADI Center
Lastly, if you are a diver, or looking to get certified, The Placencia Resort id a PADI 5-Star resort.
The scuba packages look amazing, with food included, a number of dives depending on nights spent at the resort, all equipment, and the option to upgrade some some Belize Blue Hole dives.
The Placencia Resort – Belize All Inclusive Resort
